Abstract

Adansonia digitata L. is commonly known as Baobab tree and native to Africa .It is multipurpose tree which provides foods, clothing and medicine. The raw materials of the same are obtained from Baobab tree. The fruit pulp, seeds, leaves, roots, flowers and bark of Baobab tree are edible. It is a rich source of vitamin C, calcium, potassium, phosphorous, carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. The tree has numerous medicinal properties including anti-inflammatory activities. It is a shady and ornamental tree found in Medagascar, Africa, India and Australia. It is propagated by seed.
