Field studies were conducted in Uttar Pradesh, India, in 2008-09, to determine the effects of various nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) fertilizer rates on the growth, yield and quality of okra cv. Arka anamika. A total of 10 treatment combinations of N, P and K fertilizers were studied and data were recorded on the plant height, leaves per plant, nodes per plant, stem diameter, days to flowering, flowers per plant, days to first fruit formation, length of fruit, diameter of fruit, fruits per plant, weight of fruit per plant, fruit yield per plot and fruit yield/ha. Results showed that the application of the recommended NPK rate (120:90:60 kg/ha) had the highest okra yield with respect to the various quantitative and qualitative traits studied.
